Fall Classes Begin the Week of September 13th!

This Fall, SBCT will be providing multiple 6 week long courses for multiple interests and age groups: Semi-Private Voice Lessons, Musical Theatre classes and Acting classes. We are calling these six week courses “From Seuss to Shakespeare!”

In addition—and just in time for Halloween!—SBCT is going to have a special Make-up Design class in October called “From Fairies to Frankenstein!” Then in November we will offer several 3 week Intensives including Tap lessons and an Improv class! (And guess what? Some of these Intensives will even be for adults!)

Fall is going to be so much fun at SBCT!

Musical Theatre Level I

Musical Theatre Level I is a great class for the student who has never been in a musical but loves to sing and dance or for those who have had a little experience in musical theatre and want more. In this class students will learn the beginning steps of singing and moving for musical theatre as well as the basics in connection, characterization and commitment. Students will play theatre games and do some scene work.

Advanced Musical Theatre

Advanced Musical Theatre is for students who have participated in several full length productions. Having taken dance and/or voice lessons before are a plus. Students will take the process of characterization, commitment, and connection to the next level. They will discover ways that voice and movement help create a character. Students will benefit from working with scenes and music from musicals.

Acting 101

Acting 101 is for the student who has never been on stage or has had a little taste of the stage and wants more. This class will teach students the basics of theatre. They will play theatre games, work from scripts, and learn the first steps in connection, characterization and commitment. Students will have fun stretching their imaginations and learning how to be a team player. Lots of fun and lots of learning all at the same time!

Advanced Acting

Advanced Acting is for the student who has been in several full length productions. Students will learn the process of building a character and committing to that character as well as learn about movement and voice for the stage. Using scenes from plays and poetry, they will also be learning the beginning steps of script analysis.

Semi-Private Voice Lessons

Semi-Private Voice Lessons give your student all the advantages of a voice lesson without the high price! Instructors are highly qualified and teach voice on a private level as well as work with SBCT. Class sizes will be kept small so your student will get plenty of attention. No previous voice lessons are required to take this class.
