Local businesses, not for profits and individuals came out to help us thank our 2008 Marjorie H. and James M. Wilson, MD Philanthropic Award recipient, Rose Meissner for her exemplary direction of the Community Foundation of St. Joseph County. They also helped make this our most successful “Spotlight on Civic” to date. We greatly appreciate the unprecedented participation from local businesses, with over 30 offering their support, and from our individual patrons as well who, among other things, ensured the success of our second touring season by underwriting performances for schools that wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford them. The hit of the evening was a sketch written by Civic’s own Mary Ann Moran, chronicling Rose’s love of the arts, as well as songs beautifully sung by West Side Story’s Tony, Jacob Medich. A special thanks needs to go to Don Miller (His much coveted private dinner party was again the top prize of the live auction.) and his staff for another sumptuous meal and to the Spotlight Committee and all of the volunteers without whose help, Spotlight on Civic couldn’t happen.
