On March 15 & 16, 2008 South Bend Civic Theatre was proud to host the Indiana Community Theatre League Festival, Sharing the Spotlight. From 10:00 a.m. Saturday morning until 10:00 p.m. Saturday night, festival goers were treated to 6 abbreviated productions that Indiana’s finest community theatres had to offer. A post-show after-party was held next door to the theatre in the neighboring Masonic Temple, and an awards brunch was held the next morning in the Holiday Inn downtown.

Two nationally renowned adjudicators, Mary Britt and Morrie Enders, evaluated the following companies and productions:

Elkhart Civic Theatre with “Smoke on the Mountain” (3rd Place)
South Bend Civic Theatre with “Doubt”
Kokomo Civic Theatre with “See Rock City” (2nd Place)
The Community Theatre of Terre Haute with “Variations on the Death of Trotsky”
Muncie Civic Theatre with “This Song is Your Song”
The Community Theatre Guild of Valparaiso with “Letters Home” (1st Place)

Announced at the Sunday morning awards brunch was the location of the 2009 Regional competition, which will be hosted by, none other than… South Bend Civic Theatre!

South Bend Civic Theatre looks forward to again “sharing” its wonderful new facility in April 2009 with the best-of-the-best from community theatres through out the Midwest, including: Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio. Keep checking for more information about this exciting event as it develops.
